With its broad opportunities for horseback riding, the Hotel Post in Unken, nestled amid the Pinzgauer Saalachtal, conquers the hearts of horse-lovers one and all. In addition to the tournament-size riding arena, there is a new, covered longe-line paddock, making lessons possible throughout the summer, from May to October, in the heat, sun and even during sudden downpours. Awaiting the youngsters are trusting ponies. The kids that are a little bigger will get to sit on patient Icelandics which are led on the longe. Either at a walking pace, a trot or a gallop, the Haflingers will take you out through our picturesque countryside. Guests can book 5 riding lessons, 30 minutes each, for a price of € 70.00 in combination with our Family Hit Packages or our daily hotel rates (ages 6 and up).

An open-air pool would simply have been too run-of-the-mill. In keeping with our motto “Different from the rest”, we created a large, natural swimming lake with a separate area just for the kids, a baby beach and gigantic water slide – right here amid the pristine Pinzgauer Saalachtal, just a half-hour’s drive from the “City of Mozart”, Salzburg. The service at the beach is perfect. Right by the sunbathing area is a pavilion with all the equipment mom needs to look after her youngster: a nappy mat, nappy bucket, bottle warmer, baby food. How pleasant it is, not having to go back to your room to change nappies or feed your baby. And naps in the shade are also possible, since large awnings protect you from direct sunlight and provide for pleasant temperatures. The giant 80-metre water slide, which is the longest slide at any of the Kinderhotels, is a source of infinite joy for all our water-loving kids. And those who still aren’t quite as adept at holding themselves above water, will learn the skills they need at Fred’s Swim Academy – at a price of just € 70.00 for 5 lessons, 45 minutes each (ages 4 and up).

For two years already, the Hotel Post in Unken has been serving up Salzburg Organic Breakfasts at its big breakfast buffet. And due to its great popularity with kids and parents alike, we also offer once-weekly herb hikes out to the Lutzbauer Farm, where the farmer’s wife awaits you with a traditional Salzburg platter of bacon, sausage, cheese, spreads, bread, milk and juices – all organic, produced and grown right there on the farm. A healthful, mouth-watering experience for the whole family. With our tummies full, your host will then take you out into the herb garden, where she has a tale to tell about each single herb. And every one of those stories will stick with you, to the point that, during the walk via the Kalvarienberg (with its idyllic chapel) back to the hotel, everyone will immediately recognize the wild thyme, the fuzzy sage and fresh mint. Going organic has three benefits: it’s healthy, expands your knowledge and always keeps on giving!
