The children’s farm by the Hotel Zur Post in Unken provides a home to 6 horses. Out on the riding paddock, parents and children can experience the utter happiness that comes with being perched upon the back of a horse.
On our children’s farm, your youngsters will first get to know the horses. Once they have met these friendly ponies and horses, it’s no wonder that most kids have just one thing in mind: they want to learn to ride! Based on their previous experience and talent, the staff will choose an appropriate mount for the first ride in the large paddock. With a dimension of 20 by 40 metres, there is more than enough room to ride. And for the kids, of course, safety is always job one, with more than enough safety equipment available at the hotel. Naturally, the teachers will never let your children out of their eyes during the riding lessons. And if seeing your kids out there whets your own interest: parents at the Hotel Post are always welcome to ride as well.
Riding lessons in Unken
During your riding holidays at the Hotel Post you and your children can choose from amongst six different horses. “Whiskey” leads the cavalry charge, something she makes very clear to the other horses with her dominant demeanour. “Nikita” is a quiet riding pony, inclined to be a little lazy on occasion. “Luna”, in contrast, is a hard-worker and nimble, and is, like "Flora", an Icelandic pony. On the other hand, “Snoopy”, a Shetland pony, tends to be a little stubborn. He’s also infamous around the farm for eating anything. “Fara” is the most laid-back of all, a very patient Haflinger.

Rein-led pony rides
| Monday to Friday a child-friendly pony is always available for a walk through our grounds. The pony is so well-behaved, even riding "novices" will have no problems steering. If you feel unconfident our riding teachers gladly will explain you how to lead the pony. |
