The Hotel Post isn’t only a family-orientated hotel, it is also a family-run hotel. The Unseld Family is dedicated to offering you a magical SalzburgerLand vacation with your children.
Everything began in 1985. Today’s main building of the Hotel Post was still known as the Gasthof zur Post. Gertraud and Matthäus Unseld ran this restaurant with total dedication. But their plans were interrupted by the construction of a by-pass, which drained more and more guests from their business. It quickly became clear to the Unselds: it was time to embark for new shores! And with course set in a new direction, the restaurant was transformed into a genuine family hotel.
As parents of three children, Gertraud and Matthäus Unseld knew from their own experience how best to pamper parents and children during their holidays. In 1997, the Hotel Post joined the Kinderhotel Group and was immediately awarded a “3-Smiley” classification. Business took off and the hotel grew – your hosts pursued their strategy with ever greater eagerness. Over the years, Gertraud and Matthäus Unseld have managed to create quite a considerable hotel, thriving and profiting in its now “mature” form. Surrounded by such broad grounds (spanning some 60,000 square metres), it is possible for us to make virtually every child’s dream come true. Now boasting “5 Smileys”, the Hotel Post is one of the showpiece establishments of the Kinderhotel association.
Gertraud Unseld grew up on a farm in the Innviertel region of Upper Austria, subsequently completing professional training in retail sales. Matthäus Unseld also spent his childhood on a farm, after which he attended the Tourism School in Klessheim and trained in hotel management. Together they have three children, Florian, Lukas and Magdalena. Florian attends, as his father did, the school of hotel management and is already helping out with the family business. Lukas can currently be found at the business school in Salzburg, while horse-lover Magdalena goes to the secondary school in Lofer.
